Fabric Birdies & a Pretty Dress

On Sunday I....
Made these fabric birdies. Don't they look swell with my heavenly blue morning glories? The birds sort of look like ant eaters or seals or something, but they're cute none the less...

And had a date with the Hottie Hubbie. He took me to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers, one of my favorite bands and I wore this super sweet vintage dress. It's dreamy! (And lucky me, the hubby's even dreamier.)

Birdy Tattoo

My newest tattoo (which ain't that new any more) by tattoo artist Jen Carmean, owner of Monarch Tattoo in NJ. I collect vintage post cards and Jen was able to combine a few of the images from different cards to create this wonderful ink. I do love it so.

Vegan Cupcakes with Pizza on the Side

Y'all HAVE TO check out these Moo-Cluck brand vegan cupcakes. We found them recently at Whole Foods (about $3 each). When the hottie hubby and I started the first cupcake we were sure they were lying about the vegan-ness of the product...it was just TOO good! Sure enough, it's vegan and a delight. I'd say it's the best cupcake I've ever had, vegan or not. I mean, their like "Smack Yer Momma" good! GO EAT ENJOY!

Then for dinner last night I made 3 tomato vegan pizza pies. Fresh, sun-dried and sauced toms, onion, pepper and garlic (of course) on fresh whole wheat pizza dough. Totally yum and vegan to boot! PS, love my pizza stone/tray I bought at one of those pampered chef parties.

I'm working on starting a Vegan Supper Club in my area. If you are or know someone that is in the Bergen County NJ area drop a comment and let's start eating!

Farm Sanctuary!

Holy Animal Independence! The hubby and I visited the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen NY this July 4th. I could never say enough about this amazing place and the wonderful people (Staff & Volunteers) that we met. The focus of the sanctuary (and their second site in CA) is to help farm animals that have escaped conditions that are just plainly unimaginable. One sweet moo cow was rescued from a barn so packed with feces that the poor thing's hip rubbed up against the ceiling (YES, the CEILING) of the barn. They also house Queenie, the cow that escaped certain death in Queens NY a while back.
Here are a few picts, but they surely do no justice.

Yup, all these picts here are by PVB :)

Bring Out Your Veggies! Put Away Your Diary!

We've finally done it...gone over the edge...became "those people"...

We're officially calling ourselves VEGAN

Ok, maybe SOFT VEGAN is more accurate. By this I mean we will only purchase vegan groceries and supplies and do our best to only order vegan eats out at restaurants. That's not too difficult, we have already kept vegetarian for close to 8 years give or take and for the most part the hottie hubby has already been off most diary and egg products already. I haven't purchased any leather products in years. Our current leather accessories will not be replaced.

Where it becomes "soft" is when we visit with others. I know our non-vegetarian friends and family generally work really hard to offer us vegetarian goodies when we visit. If someone offers us a lovely piece of pie I think we'll have a hard time turning it down, not wanting to hurt their feelings or create stress. And as much as I'd like to spread the word to the world about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle I don't feel the need to get on a soap box with every person I meet eating a slice of pizza.

If you'd like the direct wiki definition of VEGAN click it!
Cheers for now!

My newest hobby to save me from boredom...rabbit sketches.
